Using Pdf Sewing Patterns

Once you’ve purchased your sewing pattern, you will be emailed a link to your PDF sewing pattern download. This link will expire 24 hours after it's first clicked, so don’t forget to download it to your desktop or laptop computer. The download file will come zipped, and includes an instruction leaflet, and two versions of the sewing pattern - a print at home version that can be printed on A4 or Letter size paper, and a A0 version that can be printed at a Copy Shop. All files are in PDF format and the Print at Home version has pdf layering enabled.

Please note, due to the nature of digital items, returns and/or exchanges on PDF patterns and other downloadable products are not possible.

Printing at Home

To print the sewing pattern at home, download your sewing pattern within 24 hours and save it onto either a desktop or laptop computer. Unzip your file and open the Print at Home PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader (you can download Adobe Reader online for free). The sewing pattern has embedded layers, which means that you can select only the size or sizes that you need to print. To do this, open the sewing pattern in Adobe Reader and on the left hand side is a layers icon. Unclick the size layers that you don’t need. Please note the PATTERN INFO layer needs to be on for all the sizes.

To print, make sure that you select ACTUAL SIZE or set the scaling to 100%. This is very important to make sure that the sewing pattern prints at the size it is designed to be. To check that the sewing pattern is printing to the correct scale, print just the first page where there is a test square measuring 10cm x 10cm, or 2inches x 2 inches. Once you’ve checked the scale is correct you can print the rest of the sewing pattern.

To assemble the sewing pattern cut along the rectangle border lines - one short side and one long side on each sheet. Align the pages so the triangles match and the pages are numerical order. Then tape or glue together. Once your pages are all stuck together, cut the sewing pattern pieces out as you would a standard sewing pattern.

Printing at a Copy Shop

Digital sewing patterns can also be printed at a Copy Shop or printing service. Send the A0 version of the sewing pattern to your local Copy Shop either online or take it in on a USB stick. Once you’ve received your sewing pattern, you can cut the sewing pattern pieces out as you would with a standard sewing pattern.
